The Boeing (China) Co., Ltd. and Qingdao Institute of BioEnergy and Bioprocess Technology (QIBEBT) announced the establishment of the Joint Research Lab for Sustainable Aviation Biofuels (JRLSAB) to accelerate microalgae research leading to the commercialization of sustainable biofuels for the aviation industry, on May 26, 2010. The initial support for the JRLSAB will be 3 million USD by both sides and last 3 years.
