Global Agenda Council on Banking & Capital Markets 2011

 

Activities in the markets over summer 2011 feel all too familiar. Some analysts even go as far as expecting a return of the panic that seized financial markets in 2008 and 2009. Yet, the main challenges of restoring confidence to the markets and stimulating economic growth still remain. Many new issues are emerging such as the fear of a double dip recession and the implications for banking and capital markets, while others such as the development of capital markets in emerging economies need to be addressed to ensure that the emerging economies can deliver on the expected growth. The Council seeks clarity around these issues and will attempt to develop possible responses.
