Global Agenda Council on the Future of Insurance & Asset Management 2014-2016

The insurance and asset management industries play a critical role in the global financial system and contribute to economic growth in both mature and emerging markets. They are a pivotal provider of financial stability through the transfer and mitigation of risks and the management of trillions of dollars in funds for long-term savers, including public and private pension funds.

Yet, as these institutions look towards the future, they face a rapidly changing business environment and an icreasingly uncertain risk landscape that will challenge their abbility to provide these core societal functions. A prolonged environment of low yields is placing pressures on investment returns while ageing demographics and more frequent catastrophic events driven by climate change, political instability and terrorism are reshaping the risk landscape. At the same time, micro and macro prudential regulatory changes driven by the 2008 financial crisis are exerting a growing impact on insurers and asset managers, exposing the sector to increased scrutiny by a range of authorities that extend beyond their traditional supervisors.

The Global Agenda Council on the Future of Insurance & Asset Management brings together a multidisciplinary group of some of the world's foremost industry experts to explore these issues. The council will provide thought leadership on the transformations occuring within the industry by providing vision and strategic insights for its long-term future and exploring strategies to address key industry challenges.
