Global Agenda Council on Healthcare 2011
The last decade has been a milestone in public health, with the World Health Organization increasingly pushing for “a strong spirit of international cooperation” and new actors addressing some of the most pressing gaps in global health.
With new players on the world stage and an ever more interconnected world that combines “access to medicines” with education, trade, intellectual property, infrastructure, information technology and new mechanisms to fund R&D, issues related to public health can no longer be left with healthcare providers and professionals alone.
Building on the findings and the recommendations of the 2010 Global Redesign Initiative Health Proposal, the 2011 Health Council will focus on the pressing issues impacting global health and will aim to identify the main drivers and risks associated with them.
