Global Agenda Council on New Models of Leadership 2011

There is a growing tension between the beliefs and values of the younger generation and the way societies manage business and public organizations. The world today is not only much more interconnected and dynamic, but increasingly complex and globalized. These changing parameters require new thinking in terms of how leaders operate in complex and flexible ecosystems, beyond traditional models such as matrixes or hierarchical structures. While today’s management practices emphasize control, discipline and efficiency, thriving in the current environment will require a new set of leadership skills to drive adaptable, innovative and socially accountable organizations. The Global Agenda Council on New Models of Leadership explores the elements that are required to lead organizations and develop viable leadership practices for the future, examining the nature of relationships, processes, values and behaviours in the new organizational context.
