Global Agenda Council on the Role of Faith 2013
Faith is an important factor in political, economic and social developments around the world. With 80% of the world’s population adhering to a religion, faith communities represent a powerful source and force for transformation.
In a world of globalization and rapid change, the most certain prediction about society is that it will become increasingly diverse. Faith is on the move, since 3% of people are migrating across international borders and taking their beliefs with them. Religious freedom is under threat. Of the global population, 70% live in countries in which religious freedom is restricted. Social media are altering profoundly the relationships among faith, followers and communities.
The Global Agenda Council on the Role of Faith seeks to inform the discussion regarding the role of faith. It aims to examine faith-related responses to globalization. The Council aims to explore the potentially positive role that faith can play in providing solutions to contemporary challenges.
