Global Agenda Council on Sustainable Consumption 2011
With its vast and complex supply chains, the consumer industry impacts many sectors across sourcing, manufacturing, distribution, marketing and consumption. The key issues of critical importance to the industry are food security and safety, nutrition, sustainable agriculture, water security, health and wellness, global trade, digital media and new consumer communication approaches, intellectual property and sustainable consumption. The industry aims to meet the needs of a growing world population in ways that deliver shareholder value and are socially responsible from an economic, social and environmental perspective.
Sustainable consumption and what this means for consumer industries along the value chain is a key topic for this Council. The Council is part of the Forum’s Industry Partnership for Consumer Industries and provides intellectual leadership to the Driving Sustainable Consumption Initiative.
