Sushant Palakurthi Rao

 

Senior Director, Head of Asia, World Economic Forum

Sushant graduated from Georgetown University with a BSc (Honours) in Foreign Service and a Master’s of International Affairs from Columbia University. He successfully completed the one-year general course at the London School of Economics.  

Prior to joining the Forum, Sushant was a management consultant in the European headquarters of Sony in Berlin. He also worked as a consultant in the Munich and Berlin practices of Accenture and did projects with the Doosan Corporation in Korea and the UN Development Programme in Guyana.

Sushant joined the GLF programme in 2005 and has been working at the Forum ever since. Within his first three years at the Forum he was promoted from Community Manager to Associate Director to Deputy Head of Asia. Currently, he is Senior Director and Head of Asia, where he is responsible for developing relationships with industry, government and institutions in South Asia, South-East Asia, Australasia, Korea and Mongolia. He also is responsible for the Forum’s two annual regional events in East Asia and India as well as four Global Agenda Councils on India, Korea, Pakistan and South-East Asia, respectively. 

Sushant has co-author several Forum studies, including the India Competitiveness Review, the Indonesia Competitiveness Review and the India Gender Gap Review. He has also published several editorials in major Asian newspapers.
