Workshop Summaries: Brussels

Back to Supply Chain

Overview

Leading supply chain and risk experts gathered at the Accenture offices in Brussels to attend the first of 5 workshops for the Supply Chain Risk Initiative’s second phase.

The meeting was attended by 35 representatives from both the Public and Private sector including the Department of Homeland Security, the European Commission, TNT Express and Zurich Insurance Group.

The day started with a Special Address by Kestutis Sadauskas, Head of Cabinet, Taxation & Customs Union, European Commission, which highlighted the importance of International Collaboration.

Following this, the participants focused on 3 key workstreams:

  1. Deepening collective understanding of the risk and threat landscape
  2. Working towards a blueprint for a resilient global supply chain
  3. Improving transparency across supply chains

Findings

Workstream 1 revealed a need to better understand the cross industry ripple effects of disruption events, and also the importance of a collective and common response to them.

Workstream 2 touched upon the need for a shared regulatory framework, and multi stakeholder inputs to scenario planning and respective contingency plans.

Workstream 3 advocated the importance of harmonized communication channels through which concerns, solutions and data can be instantly shared amongst a trusted network of supply chain professionals.
