Actively involved in both provincial and national politics since the 1980s. 2008, elected MLA for the constituency of Calgary-Elbow; 2008, named Minister of Justice and Attorney-General; October 2011, elected Leader of the Alberta Progressive Conservative Party and sworn-in as Alberta's 14th Premier; April 2012, endorsed in general provincial election winning a majority government. Currently, Co-Chair on the Canadian Energy Strategy. Extensive work prior to the election on constitutional and legal reforms in Africa, Afghanistan and Vietnam, and with the United Nations prepared her to lead a government that seeks to improve quality of life for all Albertans while working to build a province that is prosperous, fair and inclusive.
