Formerly: led peace building programmes, women peace and security initiatives that resulted in the creation of the Mano River Women's Peace Network (awarded the 2003 UN General Assembly Human Rights Prize); conducted teams to observe elections in post-conflict areas (Liberia), and facilitated women peace talks, within Burundi and Congolese negotiations; had an instrumental role in achieving gender parity within African Union Commission.
