Since 1971, with Columbia University, currently also, Director, Center on Capitalism and Society; work can be seen as programme to put people back into economic models, to take into account incompleteness of their information and their knowledge and to study effects of their expectations and beliefs on workings of markets; has adopted this perspective in studying unemployment and inclusion, economic growth, business swings and economic dynamism. 1982, Fellow, National Academy of Science. 2000, Distinguished Fellow, American Economic Association, Recipient of numerous honorary doctorates and several honorary professorships.
