- Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Digital Opportunity Trust (DOT), Canada
Digital Opportunity Trust (DOT) is a Canadian based international social enterprise. The DOT model champions a youth-led solution to the limited number of economic opportunities available to young people - particularly in the Middle East, North Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa. DOT asserts that change can be delivered at scale through mobilizing the talent, energy and 'tech-savvy' creativity of young people. DOT identifies and recruits young community leaders and builds their employability through digital skills development and tangible work experience that contributes to the economic development of their home communities. DOT then connects youth leaders to an online global community of peers and DOT alumni, providing sustained opportunity for professional network development and economic opportunities. The result is a network of hundreds of thousands of self confident and resilient young people who can sustainably expand economic opportunities as life-long learners and innovators in the use of technology. The DOT model is supported by a robust ecosystem of private, public, education and community stakeholders in each of its 14 countries of operation - a network that enables scale and sustainability. Founder and CEO, Janet Longmore’s lifelong work has been to bring system-changing solutions in the field of economic inclusion for youth and women. Born a leader and educated in business, she has directed multiple non-profits in the youth development sector in Canada and the USA. Janet is intrigued by the challenges of growth and deep impact and she is driving her global team to implement new sustainable business models that leverage technology to achieve cost effective scale and impact.
