1974, BSc in Economics, University of Ghana, Legon; 1980, MSc in Economics, University of Ghana. Immediately appointed to the Faculty of the Economics Department, University of Ghana. 1981-83, lectured at the State College of Education, Awka, Anambra State, Nigeria. 1983, became Adviser to the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Ghana. Feb. 1986 - April 1997, Deputy Minister of Finance and Economic Planning. 1997, retired from public office to continue working on consultancy jobs. 1998-2000, Senior Economist, Sigma One Corporation, Ghana. 2001-02, contracted to execute a special assignment by the Danish Foreign Ministry. Also worked as a private international consultant/economist to the World Bank and foreign countries. Has also served on a number of boards and committees, including the boards of the Bank of Ghana, Ghana Commercial Bank, Ghana National Petroleum Corporation, Ghana National Procurement Agency, Ghana Supply Commission, and the Academic Board and Finance Committee of the University of Ghana. Oct. 2009 - Aug. 2012, Governor of the Central Bank of Ghana. Since 2012, Vice-President of Ghana. Interests: soccer, playing table tennis.
