1991, Bachelor's in Pedagogies and MA in Social Policy, University of Durban-Westville. 2004-10, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, South Africa; Member of Parliament National Assembly's Portfolio Committee on Trade and Industry; elected to ANC National Executive Committee; since November 2010, Minister of Public Enterprises, presides over portfolio of state-owned enterprises in energy, freight rail, ports, petroleum pipeline, broadband, military and defence products, diamond mining and forestry. Former President, ANC Youth League, for three three-year terms. Recipient: Jose Antonio Echeverrias Medal, Cuban National University Students Federation; University of Havana's Aula Matta, the highest medal awarded to students and youth leaders in Cuba.
