Former Director, Bureau of Substance Abuse Services, Massachusetts Department of Public Health, expanded innovative and nationally recognized prevention, intervention, treatment and recovery services for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Nov. 2012, sworn in as Deputy Director, White House Office of National Drug Control Policy. Has served in a variety of leadership roles for the National Association of State Alcohol and Drug Abuse Directors. Former Member, Advisory Committee, Center for Substance Abuse Prevention of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration and National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention. Has co-authored peer-reviewed articles that have significantly contributed to the substance abuse field. First recipient of the annual Ramstad/Kennedy National Award for Outstanding Leadership in Promoting Addiction Recovery (2008). Service Award, National Association of State Alcohol and Drug Abuse Directors (2012).
