Over 30 years' experience as consulting engineer with projects related to mining, aboriginal relations, nuclear-waste management, water resources, energy policy and distribution of benefits from resource developments. 1989-92, President, Friends of the Earth, Canada. 1992-96, Member, National Round Table on Environment and Economy; 2001-02, led North American component of global multi-interest review of practices in mining and mineral industry, International Institute of Sustainable Development; 2007, Kinross Professor of Mining and Sustainability, Queen's University, Kingston; since October 2008, current position. Written, spoken and taught on applied sustainability.
