Interview with Dr. Ramin Sadr, CEO, Mojix
Briefly, what is it about your company that makes it so special?
Mojix has applied a new type of science to develop a wireless communications system that is revolutionizing the tracking and tracing of goods and assets using RFID technology .With a quantum leap of million fold improvement over the previous generation of technology, Mojix has eliminated many of the technical and economic barriers for effective automation of supply chain management and asset tracking – a long standing challenge that has long hindered business efficiency, and product and public safety.
Our technology is based on deep space communication applied to sensory networks, as this is rooted in our team's background some two decades ago working on NASA projects tracking spacecrafts in deep space. Our technology provides "ubiquitous visibility" of goods and assets. This visibility is across very large physical areas and across multiple enterprise business processes, and when used globally, across the complete supply chain from the supplier to the end user.
It has been said that the next global recovery period will be business driven, as opposed to consumer driven. Sensor and RFID technologies are key for this transformation.
What country best facilitates starting a tech company?
From a historical perspective, USA has been the cradle of innovation for the past century. In my opinion three fundamental forces has driven the innovation curve in the last seventy years. First, is the abundance of fine universities and research institutions that nurture and train the type of talent required for technology innovation. Second and equally as important is access to capital for innovation, facilitated in US by the venture capital ecosystem and federal grants to educational institution for basic research. Third force has been the benefit of the enormous amount of talent that comes to US shores each year with a diverse ethnic and cultural background, ready to work hard and join the workforce in the US.
In fact our company, Mojix, possesses a broad cultural diversity with world class scientists and engineers spanning 12 nations across the globe. Over the last three decades, American companies not only have offered revolutionary products worldwide, have also transformed the world with creation of intellectual based capitalism from a commodities based capitalism, with our planet today being a "connected world wide web". Information technology has now become a vehicle for economic growth globally and this transformation will continue to lay the ground work for the next economic recovery.
What makes an innovator?
An innovator is an individual with a vision and a dream of what can be possible, who can lead and motivate a team that possesses the know how to fulfill that vision. Today's high technology innovation hinges on a diverse set of core competencies, traversing different type of expertise. The ability to identify, recruit, attract and work with top notch talent is a prerequisite for fulfilling the innovator's vision. Ultimately what makes an "innovator" is when such a team creates value in the marketplace from the shared vision, impacting global economic growth.
How does your company contribute to improving the state of the world?
Our planet earth today is faced with great challenges ranging from climate change, energy constraints, tainted food, drug and water supply, financial chaos and over population. Mojix is positioned at the cusp of providing breakthrough wireless technology for optimizing global business processes that assure delivery of goods and services at the right time, right amount, right place and right quality. Our technology innovation is focused on matching real-time "supply-and-demand" to minimize waste, loss of productivity, and maximizing safety and security across the whole supply chain. And ultimately, helping to drive the next economic recovery on a global scale.
