Klaus Schwab
Founder and Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum
Qualifications
Studied at Swiss Federal Institute of Technology and the Universities of Fribourg and Harvard. Degrees include Doctorates in Mechanical Engineering and in Economics (summa cum laude).
Career
1972-2003, Professor of Business Policy, University of Geneva. Author of several books, the yearly Global Competitiveness Report (since 1979) and numerous other publications. Founded the World Economic Forum in 1971 as a not-for-profit foundation and built it into the foremost global partnership of business, political, intellectual and other leaders of society committed to improving the state of the world. Co-founder (1998), with his wife Hilde, of the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship, supporting social innovation around the world. Founder (2004) of The Forum of Young Global Leaders. Has been active, in addition, in editorial, academic and public service organizations, as well as in UN-related high-level functions. Academic distinctions include Honorary Professorship and six honorary doctorates. For his initiatives undertaken in the spirit of entrepreneurship in the global public interest and for his reconciliation efforts in several regions he has received numerous international and national honours, including the Knighthood (KCMG) bestowed by H.M. the Queen of England. Professor Schwab was born in Germany in 1938.

Robert Greenhill

Qualifications
Robert received a BA from the University of Alberta, Canada, and a MA from the London School of Economics. He also has a MBA from INSEAD, the European Institute of Business Administration.
Career
With a strong interest in global issues, Robert has combined a career in international business with a commitment to international public policy. He started his career with McKinsey & Company. In 1995, he joined Bombardier Inc., Canada's leading aerospace and rail-transportation manufacturer, where he occupied a number of senior posts, including Senior Vice-President of Strategy. He became President and Chief Operating Officer of Bombardier International in 2000. In 2004, he joined the International Development Research Centre as Senior Visiting Executive. In May 2005, Robert was appointed President of the Canadian International Development Agency, Canada's premier international development and humanitarian assistance organization. He also serves as Alternate Governor for Canada on the Board of Governors of the World Bank Group and sits on the Board of Governors of the International Development Research Centre (IDRC).
Richard Samans

Rick received a BA in Economics and French from Tufts University. He completed a Masters degree in International Affairs at Columbia University.
Career
Rick began his career in 1982 with Credit Lyonnais USA as Corporate Lending Officer. He then became Legislative Assistant to a member of the House Committee on Ways and Means, between 1985 and 1988. Until 1991, Rick was a Professional Staff Member and Senior Legislative Assistant to the Chairman of the Senate Banking Committee. From 1992 to 1993, he was an International Affairs Fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations in London and Washington DC. Rick was then Associate Director and Staff Director for the Subcouncil on Capital Allocation on the Competitiveness Policy Council between 1993 and 1996. Thereafter, he held the position of Economic Policy Adviser to the Senate Minority Leader until 1999. Rick served the Clinton Administration as Special Assistant to the United States President for International Economic Policy, from 1999-2001. He was an Adjunct Faculty Member and Guest Lecturer in International Relations at the School of International Service, American University. Rick joined the World Economic Forum in 2001 as Director of Global Issues, and as an Associate Member of the Managing Board. He was appointed Managing Director in August 2003.
André Schneider

Qualifications
André is a Classical Orchestra Musician and received a Diploma from the Richard Strauss Konservatorium in Munich. He has a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Geneva.
Career
André launched his career in the music world as a classical musician. He has played for the Philharmonic Orchestra of Berlin, the Staatstheater Kassel, the Symphony Orchestra of the Radio Saarland and the Lucerne International Festival Orchestra. He then concentrated on his interest in Information Technology and became a Researcher in parallel computers for the European Community. At IBM Consulting Group, he was Product Developer, Consultant and Principal. Before joining the World Economic Forum in 1998, he was an IT consultant for various companies and organizations and a member of numerous committees. In 2000, André was appointed Director of Knowledge Management and Associate Member of the Managing Board. He has been a member of the Managing Board since January 2003. André is a consultant for various companies and organizations and speaks on IT-related topics.

Adrian Monck

Adrian Monck holds an MA in Modern History, Oxford University (Exeter College, 1985-1988) and an Executive MBA from the London Business School, where he graduated in 2001
Career
Adrian began his career at CBS News in 1988 before moving to ITN where he was Senior Producer for News at Ten; Foreign Editor at ITV News; and Managing Editor at Channel Five News. Monck then moved to Sky News as Executive Producer. During his journalism career, he won the Royal Television Society award for news coverage of the Dunblane massacres; the Royal Television Society award for innovation at Channel Five News; overall prize in the New York Festivals; and a Gold medal for his special report on Rwandan aid. He has served as a judge for the International Emmy Awards and British Press Awards among others. He is the author of Can You Trust the Media? and co-author of Crunch Time and Crunch Time: How Everyday Life Is Killing Our Future.
Monck was most recently Head of Journalism and Professor of Journalism at City University London. City University London is Britain's largest graduate journalism school, educating media leaders from the United Kingdom and around the world, with nearly 600 students and over half at the postgraduate level.
Additionally, Monck sits on the Forum's Global Agenda Council on the Future of Media. He has authored three books and maintains his own blog (http://adrianmonck.com, http://adrianmonck.com/). He is a member of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts and the Royal Television Society.
Gilbert Probst

Gilbert was awarded both his PhD in Economic and Social Sciences and MBA from the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland.
Career
Professor Probst's career spans both academia and commerce. He is currently Professor for Organisational Behaviour and Management and Director of the Executive-MBA programme at the University of Geneva, Switzerland.
He was a lecturer and vice president of the Institute of Management, University of St. Gallen, Switzerland; and a visiting professor at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School, University of Vienna, and International Management Institute, Geneva. He is also an award-winning author, collaborator and editor of a number of books and articles.
He's advised a variety of global corporations, from BMW and Deutsche Bank to Siemens and Winterthur Insurance, and has been a board member for Kuoni, Holcim and Acqiris. He founded the Geneva Knowledge Forum of 18 companies, the Center for Organizational Excellence at the Universities of St Gallen and Geneva, and the Strategic Knowledge Group, Zurich. He is board president of the Swiss Top Executive Training (SKU).
He was appointed Managing Director, and Dean of the Global Leadership Fellows Programme, World Economic Forum, in February 2007.
Lee Howell

Lee received a BA in East Asian Languages & Literature and a BA in Economics from the University of Maryland. After completing his JD in Delaware, he received his LLM from the Washington College of Law at American University. He is currently working on his doctoral dissertation at the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland.
Career
Lee began his career in international affairs as a Fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Washington, DC (1993-1996). He then directed the corporate and public policy programs at the Japan Society in New York (1996-1999). In 2000, Lee served as a consultant to Madame Sadako Ogata, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and developed initiatives in Rwanda and Bosnia-Herzegovina to promote reconciliation.
At the Forum, Lee was responsible for the program of the 2002 Annual Meeting which took place in New York City in a demonstration of international solidarity after September 11th. He then left the Forum from 2002 to 2003 to serve as a Senior Policy Advisor at the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). He returned in 2004 as Director and Head of Asia and was promoted to Senior Director in September 2007. In August 2008, he became Head of Programming with responsibility for developing the programmes for the Annual Meeting in Davos, Annual Meeting of New Champions in China and the Summit on the Global Agenda in Dubai. In May 2009, Lee also assumed responsibility for the Network of Global Agenda Councils. He was appointed Managing Director in September 2009.

Katherine commenced her career in Investment Banking in 1999 for one of Canada's largest financial institutions, BMO Financial Group where she specialized in mergers and acquisitions in the financial services sector. In 2001 she joined CIBC Capital Partners to conduct venture capital and private equity investments across North America. In 2005 Katherine moved from Canada to South Africa to focus on emerging market private equity as a Principal for HSG, a private family fund backed by Standard Chartered Bank and Bank of Scotland. Katherine was responsible for the pan-African private equity mandate for the group which focused predominantly on investments in mining and resources. She joined the World Economic Forum in August 2008 as Director and Head of Africa for the Forum. Katherine holds a BA in International Business, Finance and Economics from the University of Victoria, Canada. She holds both South African and Canadian citizenship.
