The Digital Ecosystem Project
The World Economic Forum, through its IT, Media & Entertainment and Telecom Industry Partnership programme has launched an initiative on the future of the digital ecosystem.
Head of project, Silvia Von Gunten, said: “This is a two year project with the goal of deriving business-ready insights and recommendations for the Forum's IT, Telecommunications and Media & Entertainment Industry Partners.”
The project consists of two phases of work, each lasting a year:
- Phase One: Scenario Construction
- Phase Two: Subsequent Recommendations and Action Plan
At the World Economic Forum on East Asia, there was a workshop with key industry leaders, stakeholders and experts, designed to identify the critical uncertainties that could shape the evolution of the digital ecosystem over the coming 10 years.
The workshop also looked to sketch the outlines of potential future scenarios for the digital ecosystem in 2015.

Developing the Future Framework for Climate Change and Energy Policy with the G-20
Building on the success of the 2005 G8 - CEO Roundtable process, the World Economic Forum has been invited by the UK government to provide input into a new Gleneagles Dialogue on Climate Change. This dialogue process will involve a series of meetings to shape policy recommendations on climate change for the period 2008-2012 and beyond.
A breakfast meeting at the World Economic Forum on East Asia discussed the process and the opportunities the initiative offers to East Asia, particularly in relation to technology and the development of market mechanisms in a more carbon-constrained world.

- Globalization of Asset Management and Private Equity:
This debate brought together international and Asian fund managers, investment banks, investors and other stakeholders to discuss issues relating to institutional investment.
- Evolution of Capital Markets Dinner:
Following workshops in China, Russia, India, Sao Paolo the fifth meeting of this project focused on the Evolution of Capital Markets in Asia with a particular focus on Japan, China, Korea and India.
- Technology Innovation in Financial Services: Scenarios to 2015:
