 1) Briefly tell us what it is about your company/project that makes it so special?
We have made a fundamental physics breakthrough by harnessing completely new properties of silicon that to date not been off limits. This new material developed by Innovalight brings the promise of more affordable clean energy applications such as in areas of solar energy and solid stage lighting applications.
2) What country best facilitates starting a tech company? What single thing can a government do to encourage Technology Pioneers?
Most definitely, the United States of America. I was born and educated in Ireland. I have also lived and worked in Japan, England, Germany but I have always found the USA to offer the lowest barrier to entry to start a new company. The single most important thing that a Government can do to help encourage Technology Pioneers is to have flexible and fair labor laws.
3) What makes an innovator?
Fire in the belly and a desire to succeed.
4) How does your company directly contribute to improving the state of the world?
We are bringing new solutions that are clean for the environment and offers the promise of lower energy use and dependence on fossil fuels.
5) What value do you hope to gain from being a Technology Pioneer?
Recognition for our Company, our employees and those who have worked so hard to develop the technologies and capabilities that we've been able to develop.
6) What do you think the role of technology should be in society?
It should improve the lives of everyone, not just a few.
