Global Agenda Council on Food Security

Global Agenda Council on Food SecurityIn 2008, the World Economic Forum formed the Global Agenda Council on Food Security, engaging a select group of global leaders in business, government, international organisations, civil society and academia.

The Council is chaired by Josette Sheeran, Executive Director of the U.N. World Food Programme (WFP). Working as an independent, multi-stakeholder group, the Council’s primary goals are to:
• Define and leverage support for priority actions to improve global food security
• Serve as a “network of networks” of major global institutions and initiatives on hunger to expand partnerships and deepen synergies

The Council forms part of the Forum’s broader Network of Global Agenda Councils, and contributes to the Global Redesign Initiative. Further information can be seen at:  http://www.weforum.org/en/about/GlobalAgendaCouncils/
