Promoting a Global Dialogue on Water

Although the issue of water has been surfacing more and more as a serious global issue in recent years, there is still a major challenge in catalysing more streamlined and effective action on a global level. The UN Human Development Report 2006 stresses this critical issue: "Better access to water and sanitation would act as the catalyst for a giant advance in human development, creating opportunities for gains in public health, education and economic growth." Experience from the climate change debate has shown that translating awareness to specific action takes many years. One aspect of developing this global component on water is to help accelerate this process to propel water to match the success in other sectors, such as health and education.

Both Forum as well as other international water events will be used for the dissemination of this work, including:
Stockholm Water Week (12 – 18 August 2007)
