Post-Crisis Professional Services Landscape. Strategies for integrating ethics in competitive business, Industry Partnership Strategy Meeting 2009, New York, 30 September
As much as Professional Services companies compete, they also share similar responsibilities towards organizations, clients, shareholders and society as a whole, which is particularly obliging in these current times of uncertainty and economic volatility. Following up on the discussion of the professional services industry leaders at the Governors Meeting in Davos-Klosters, the industry will gather again to explore in more depth areas related to ethics in business where a common action can be beneficial.
Professional Services top persons and board members, joined by relevant Special Guests, will focus on 2-3 areas selected from the ideas identified by the Governors in Davos:
- Protecting the reputation of professional services firms
- Integrating values and ethics into business strategies
- Promotion of responsibility in capitalism and competitiveness
- Redefinition of the compensation landscape
- Influencing decisions and behaviours to avoid decision traps and inefficient business models
- Introducing voluntary self-regulation to the professional services industry
- Seeking the right balance between increased transparency and sufficient control over businesses
- Changing behaviours to demonstrate commitment to values
- Learning today’s lesson to better connect the dots, prevent and/or prepare for next crises
Summit on Talent Mobility, Industry Partnership Strategy Meeting 2009, New York, 1 October
The cross-industry dialogue on talent mobility aims to provide governments with a set of recommendations for stimulating economies through fostering labour mobility. The recommendations will relate to (1) identifying the most pressing chronic talent shortages and (2) possibly simplifying existing workforce regulation and immigration policies. The developed recommendations will refer to the impact of talent mobility on countries’ economies, competitiveness and growth opportunities.
In the context of the current economic turmoil and raising protectionism, a positive business effort towards fostering talent mobility is required to highlight its potential for stimulating businesses and economies. Both human capital and regulatory issues raise bigger than ever interest from Forum’s Partners Companies, faculty and policy-makers, what gives us a mandate to scale up this industrially diverse, multi-stakeholder dialogue in 2009 and to address the issue of talent mobility in a comprehensive and interdisciplinary way for the benefit of the engaged partners and society at large.
Participants gathered at New York's half-day Talent Summit will agree upon the draft recommendations, based on the preparatory work which will be presented prior to the workshop.
