Adapting to Environmental Challenges
|
SlimCity is a global partnership focusing on energy and resource efficiency in cities. SlimCity provides a risk-free, dynamic, multi-stakeholder environment within which cities and the private sector can exchange knowledge found throughout the world, and so utilize global resources to act.
• Sustainable Buildings. As part of the SlimCity cross industry initiative the second phase of this workstream is focused on the distribution of the best examples captured in the Knowledge Cards for Sustainable Buildings on how to catalyse more sustainable building. The workstream will also work with various NGO’s on establishing a common metrics system for Sustainable Buildings.

Affordable Housing
|
The Affordable Housing dialogue is an effort to breach the barriers of affordable housing throughout the world. The dialogue was launched at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2009 to give the world’s foremost experts on the issue the opportunity sound off on the challenges and opportunities to address the world’s underserved lower income housing needs.

Climate Change
|
The Climate Change Initiative follows the Gleneagles to further the dialogue to Copenhagen in 2010. The initiative provides a platform for discussion between the G8 summit in Hokkaido through to the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2010 in Davos, enabling the international business community, intergovernmental agencies and government representatives to coordinate and continue moving these discussions forward. The initiative stretches across all industries, but the importance in connecting with the Financial Services community and their input is recognized by the Forum through a dedicated set of activities.
Key topics include:
• How best to create a deeper, more liquid international carbon market
• Investment innovations to leverage much more private finance into and accelerate the number of low carbon projects in developed country markets, for example by involving institutional investors
• How best to structure the emerging suite of multilateral strategic climate investment funds for developing countries (including for clean energy, adaptation, forest conservation) to leverage much more private finance for projects
