The Aviation, Travel and Tourism Industry Partnership

The industry partnership program provides CEOs and senior executives of the world’s leading companies the opportunity to engage with their peers to define and address critical industry issues throughout the year. Identifying, developing and acting upon these specific industry issues is fundamental to the Forum’s drive to deliver sustainable social development founded upon economic progress.

Shaping the Future of the Aviation, Travel & Tourism (ATT) Industry
The ATT industry is facing a series of challenges that no single company can address on its own. In addition to business-level issues, senior executives must steer their companies through a landscape dotted with terrorist incidents, oil price shocks, natural disasters and potential pandemics.

It is critical that the industry both understand and prevent potential risks and prepare to respond to issues as they arise. Additionally, cooperation between the leaders of the ATT industry is required to create infrastructures and policies for development and a positive future.

Industry Partnership Meeting: Sharm El Sheikh, 20-22 May 2006 - Read the Report
On the occasion of the World Economic Forum on the Middle East, regional and international travel & tourism industry leaders as well as high level regional public figures, industry associations and organisations, met in private to continue dialogue on four key issues facing the Travel & Tourism Industry regional development namely;

  • National Competitiveness: The Forum, with its Industry, Strategic and Knowledge Partners will be launching the first ever Aviation, Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Report at Davos 2007. During the Summit, the Partners to the project met with key Egyptian Public Figures and regional players to discuss how enhancing Egypt's travel & tourism competitiveness is key to boosting the country's economic development and reducing unemployment.
  • Re-Branding the Middle-East: How can the Middle East rebrand itself to reduce the negative perceptions of the region. A concrete outcome will be the mandate to develop a Middle East campaign on the theme "Red Tape Out, Red Carpet In", which will have its official campaign launch in the Middle East Summit in 2007 in Jordan.
  • Attracting FDI for Tourism : Why is it so important for the sustainable development of tourism in the region.
  • Infrastructure Development: The region is plagued with inefficient or non-existing infrastructure. Can the current situation be rationalised?
