More than 900 participants from 50 countries participated in the 19th World Economic Forum on Africa in Cape Town, 10-12 June 2009, under the theme Implications of the Global Economic Crisis for Africa. While sub-Saharan Africa was less impacted by the global recession than most other emerging regions, the economic crisis represented both a challenge and an opportunity, business and political leaders said.
