PetroSA

Formed in 2002, the Petroleum, Oil and Gas Corporation of South Africa (PetroSA) is the national oil company of South Africa. PetroSA is a subsidiary of the Central Energy Fund, which is wholly owned by the state and reports to the Department of Energy. The company's portfolio spans the petroleum value chain, with all operations running according to world-class safety and environmental standards. PetroSA's gas-to-liquid (GTL) refinery in Mossel Bay produces ultra-clean, low-sulphur, low-aromatic synthetic fuels and high-value products converted from natural methane-rich gas and condensate using a unique GTL Fischer Tropsch technology. PetroSA vigorously pursues investment opportunities internationally and within South Africa, with a focus on Africa. Locally, it operates the FA-EM, South Coast gas fields and the Oribi and Oryx fields. It has exploration acreage in Egypt, Equatorial Guinea and Namibia, as well as off South Africa's West Coast. Most of its fuel and fuel-related products are sold to South Africa's major oil companies and, internationally, its products compete on equal terms with those manufactured by the world's largest multinational petrochemical companies.
