Since Feb. 2011, National Secretary for R&D Policies, Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation of Brazil. Scientific career dedicated to the Amazon region; developed pioneer research on the climate impacts of deforestation. Member: Brazilian Academy of Sciences; Academy of Sciences for the Developing Nations - TWAS. Co-author of over 140 scientific articles, books and book chapters.
