Master's in International Relations, Norman Paterson School of International Affairs. Since 1996, with Canadian diplomatic service, largely as adviser and analyst on peace and conflict issues, human rights and humanitarian affairs. Currently, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Canada to the UN and Conference on Disarmament, Geneva. Recent assignments include Director-General, Stabilization and Reconstruction Task Force (START), Representative of Canada in Kandahar, Afghanistan, and Director, Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Response Division Foreign Affairs. Participated in management of Canadian Government responses to several conflicts and natural disasters, including Co-Coordinator of 2010 Government of Canada Haiti Earthquake Task Force and 2011 Japan Triple Disaster Task Force. Author of published articles and book chapters on whole-of-government coordination, civilian protection and refugees. Recipient: ISAF General Service Medal; Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal; Public Service Award of Excellence; Ministerial Awards for Foreign Policy Excellence. Named among Canadian 40 under 40 (2009) and Young Global Leader (2010), World Economic Forum.
