More than 30 years of experience as an educator, researcher, consultant, and technology business executive. 1978, joined the Industrial and Systems Engineering faculty, Georgia Institute of Technology; currently, UPS and Regents' Professor of Industrial and Systems Engineering and Executive Director, Supply Chain & Logistics Institute. Founder and former President, CAPS Logistics, a pioneer in the dev. of interactive software tools to design supply chain networks and optimize logistics processes. Member, US National Academy of Engineering. Fellow, Institute of Industrial Engineers. Widely published. Current research and logistics competencies include intermodal network design, supply chain integration, delivery strategies, cross docking, vender managed resupply, real-time routing, shipment planning, logistics performance measurement, and container port operations. Award for Outstanding Research for work in logistics, IIE (1991).
