Degree in Theology; PhD in International Relations. Twenty-seven years' experience working on the problem of armed conflict as a humanitarian worker, academic and adviser to businesses; work has been mostly in African wars, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and social conflicts around mining. Formerly with: Save the Children, the UN, Oxfam and the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue. Has advised Rio Tinto, BP, Vodafone and G4S. Currently, Senior Research Fellow, Oxford Institute for Ethics, Law and Armed Conflict, Oxford University; concurrently, teaches at Oxford Brookes University and the Graduate Institute, Geneva.
