Worked for 10 years in the Division of International Finance of the Federal Reserve Board, lastly as Deputy Director. 1999-2009, worked for Citigroup, first as the head of emerging market economics and later as Citi's Chief Economist. 2009-11, Counsellor to Treasury Secretary Geithner working on range domestic financial issues. Also led the initial effort to establish the Treasury's new Office of Financial Research. Leads Nomura's economic research team covering the US economy as US Chief Economist.
