Serves as a lead author on the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Fifth Assessment. Has played leadership roles on other international assessments. Research supported by the US National Science Foundation and other national and international bodies, recently focusing on climate-security links, infectious disease emergence, and the role of environmental protection in fragile states.
