Marcello Sala (Monza, 1968) is Executive Vice Chairman of the Intesa Sanpaolo Management Board since 2010 and a board member since the Bank was established in 2007; in this capacity he has been charged by the Management Board to develop the international relations and the international projects of the Group. Within Intesa Sanpaolo, he has been Vice Chairman of AlexBank (Egypt) and a member of the Board of Directors of Banca IMI and of IMI Fondi Chiusi SGR. He is the Italian Chairman of the Italian Egyptian Business Council, board member of ISPI (Italian Institute for International and Political Studies) and of the Italy China Foundation, member of the Board of Directors of IAI (Institute for International Affairs), member of the Advisory Board of Assocamerestero (Association of Italian Chambers of Commerce abroad), member of the Trilateral Commission, member of the B20 Financing Growth Taskforce and Chairman of FITS! (an entity focused on developing innovative non-profit-making activities). Within the World Economic Forum, he is member of the Global Agenda Council on New Growth Models and of the Steering Committee, Role of Financial Services in Society. Mr. Sala holds a degree in Economics and a degree in Political Science, both from the Catholic University of Milan. His professional experience includes senior positions in private equity (Managing Director, The Oak Fund), merchant banking, tourism and investment advisory. He held various positions in Italian and international companies and institutions, including member of the International Council of the Bretton Woods Committee (Washington), member of the Strategic Committee for the national economic interests abroad at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Vice Chairman of Global Ports Holding (Istanbul) and Vice Chairman of Banca ITB.
