1982-89, studied at the Faculty of International Relations and International Law, Taras Shevchenko National University; degree in International Economic Relations; 2002, postgraduate degree in Juridical Sciences with thesis "Legal Regulation of Managing State Corporate Rights in Ukraine". 1984-86, served in the army. 1989-92, postgraduate student assistant, Department of International Economic Relations, Taras Shevchenko National University, Kyiv. 1993-98, Chief Executive Officer, Ukrprominvest corporate group. 1998, first elected as Member of Parliament of Ukraine. 2000, became Deputy Head of the National Bank Council of Ukraine. 2002, elected again to Parliament and became Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Budget Issues. 2005, Secretary, National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine. Elected again as Member of Parliament of Ukraine. 2006-07, chaired the Committee on Finance and Banking Activity, Parliament of Ukraine. 2009, appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. 2012, appointed Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine. October 2012, elected again as Member of Parliament; Co-Chair of the EU-Ukraine Parliamentary Cooperation Committee. 25 May 2014, elected as President of Ukraine at the early presidential elections in the first round. 7 June 2014, sworn as President. Recipient of honours: honoured economist of Ukraine; Ukraine State Prize winner in the sphere of science and technology; P. Orlyk international prize; Grand Cross Order of Civil Merit of the Kingdom of Spain.
