Has held several important positions representing the Government of Mexico overseas: 1991-93, Trade Counsellor, Mexican Embassy in Ottawa, Canada; 13 years as Trade Counsellor, North American Free Trade Agreement Office (NAFTA), Washington DC; 2005-13, Trade Representative of the Secretary of Economics in Japan, as Director of the Office of the Agreement for Economic Association between Mexico and Japan. Currently, General Coordinator, International Affairs, Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food of Mexico (SAGARPA).
