PhD in Politics. Political scientist with extensive experience in conflict and post-conflict contexts. Formerly: Head of UNDP Sudan's Peace Building Unit, managed a high-profile post-conflict response in the Nuba Mountains and was a resource person and an observer at the IGAD Sudan peace process; leadership in the Nuba Mountains response was recognized in an ALNAP study on global humanitarian leadership. Has lectured at the University of Dar es Salaam. 2006, joined the Overseas Development Institute (ODI); currently, Head, Humanitarian Policy Group. Has written extensively on Sudan and is a regular public speaker and media commentator on South Sudan/Sudan and humanitarian issues. Managing Editor, Disasters Journal. Trustee, SOS Sahel. Member of several advisory boards, including the Humanitarian Innovation Fund, the Refugees Studies Centre and the UN Association of the UK.
