Currently, Lead PI of a 5-year, US$ 10 million project on Understanding Climate Change - A Data Driven Approach, funded by the NSF's Expeditions in Computing programme; it is aimed at pushing the boundaries of computer science research. Co-founded SIAM International Conference on Data Mining. Author of over 250 research articles; Co-Editor or Co-Author of 11 books, including textbooks Introduction to Parallel Computing and Introduction to Data Mining. Former Founding Co-Editor-in-Chief, Journal of Statistical Analysis and Data Mining (an official journal of the American Statistical Association). Recipient, ACM SIGKDD 2012 Innovation Award for foundational research in data mining and its applications to scientific data.
