Aecon is one of Canada's biggest publicly traded construction companies and operates throughout Canada as well as in international markets. The company's main business is in four sectors: infrastructure, buildings, industry and concessions. Aecon provides a range of complementary services; it produces its own construction products such as asphalt, provides engineering services to both private contractors and municipalities, and provides preconstruction services. Aecon's work includes many of Canada's most famous landmarks - from the CN Tower and St Lawrence Seaway, to the Vancouver Sky Train and Halifax Shipyards. In 2009, Aecon had a project backlog of about C$ 1.24 billion and was named one of Canada's top 10 employers.
