Headquartered in Johannesburg, AngloGold Ashanti has 20 operations in 10 countries on four continents, and several exploration programmes in the established and new gold producing regions of the world. It employed 61,242 people, including contractors, in 2011 and produced 4.33 Moz of gold, generating US$ 6.6 bn in gold income, excluding joint ventures. Capital expenditure in 2011 amounted to US$ 1.5 bn. As at 31 December 2011, it had an attributable ore reserve of 75.6 Moz and an attributable mineral resource of 230.9 Moz.
