In 1802, DuPont was primarily an explosives company. One hundred years ago, its focus turned to chemicals, materials and energy. In 2015 it will separate its Performance Chemicals segment, creating two companies. The separation is a catalyst that will further advance efforts to extend leadership in agriculture and nutrition, strengthen and grow advanced materials and leverage the cross-company skill set to develop a world-leading bio-based industrials business. Through these strategic priorities, DuPont is helping customers find solutions to capitalize on areas of growing global demand - enabling more, safer, nutritious food; creating high-performance, cost-effective, energy-efficient materials for a wide range of industries; and increasingly delivering renewably sourced bio-based materials and fuels. DuPont's ability to adapt to change and a foundation of unending scientific inquiry have enabled DuPont to become one of the world's most innovative companies. Yet its core values have remained constant: commitment to safety and health; environmental stewardship; high ethical behaviour; and respect for people. DuPont is a Fortune 500 company.
