Aviation and Travel
The Industry Partnership Programme provides CEOs and senior executives of the world’s leading companies the opportunity to engage with their peers to define and address critical industry issues. Identifying, developing and acting upon these specific industry issues is fundamental to the Forum’s drive to deliver sustainable social development founded upon economic progress.
The Aviation & Travel Community comprises companies that are the leaders throughout the passenger transportation and travel value chain - from manufacturing to hospitality and including carriers (airlines, cruise lines) and services (travel agencies, distribution). The community is committed to the Forum's mission and activities to tackle the global challenges facing the industry such as sustainability, freedom of travel and trade, and new operating models.
To help members address complex strategic issues in a continuous and actionable way as an industry community, a limited number of work streams are defined:
The Connected World project is a cross-industry project that will look at scenarios for how travel, transport and supply chains could be more integrated in 2025. It will also explore new business models that enable and support an integrated approach. The scenarios will illustrate how the above factors will impact infrastructure, technology usage, policies and financing.
Safeguarding Aviation and Travel Value Chains Against Corruption. Through the Forum's Partnering Against Corruption Initiative, this project will be an in-depth review of the corruption and compliance challenges facing the aviation and travel industries.
Enabling Trade: Valuing Growth Opportunities. In collaboration with the World Bank and Bain & Company, this project addressed the fundamental attributes that govern nations' and companies' ability to benefit from trade and travel: market access, border administration, infrastructure and the business environment. The report found that supply chain barriers are more of an impediment to international trade than tariffs. Reducing supply chain barriers could increase global GDP over six times more than removing all tariffs.
Published since 2007, the Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Report gives a cross-country analysis of the drivers of competitiveness in travel and tourism, provides useful comparative information for making business decisions and offers additional value to governments wishing to improve their travel and tourism industry.
