Industry Partners are select Member companies of the World Economic Forum that actively support the Forum’s commitment to improve the state of the world. With privileged access to the Forum’s multi-stakeholder networks and experts, partnership brings visibility and insights allowing Partners to identify, discuss and address their sector’s critical issues through industry-specific and cross-industry initiatives. This engagement and insight also allows Partners to contribute to have an impact leading change in global and regional issues and to engage in action in support of corporate global citizenship.

Partnership Highlights

 

 

Communities: At multiple levels, Chemical Industry Partners participate in unique multi-stakeholder communities, involving governments, non-governmental organizations, civil society, and other economic sectors. This multi-angled view not only brings new perspectives to industry issues, but also highlights the role of the chemical industry as a solution provider to global issues.

Insight: Through the institutional Risk Response Network, Global Agenda Councils, the Global University Leaders Forum, the Centre for Global Competitiveness & Performance, cross industry discussions and a selected group of advisors, specific to the chemical industry community.There are also periodic virtual meetings with leading economists and experts to discuss the most current economic climate Economic and Client Monitoring Calls.

Impact: Partners take active roles in a variety of cross-industry initiatives, many resulting in the actual implementation of on-the-ground public-private partnerships and work with IGOs to address global issues.

Engagement: Participation in global and regional meetings also offers interaction with various stakeholder groups. Beyond initiatives and physical meetings, Partners also benefit from virtual connection platforms and working groups.

 

 

Projects and Initiatives

Chemical Industry Partners are engaged in one or more of the following initiatives:

 

Collaborative Innovation

This umbrella initiative covers -among others- the design and implementation of plausible strategies for energy efficiency, as well as the opportunities in scaling up renewable energy, the Chinese energy sector, and the Water-Food-Energy nexus.

 

Energy Architecture for the 21st Century

An initiative to engage the public and private sectors in developing a shared agenda for action to meet food security, economic development, environmental sustainability goals. It will also look at new technologies to improve food production.

 

A New Vision for Agriculture

Looks at aspects such as raising broader awareness of water issues and catalysing the development of global coordination between government, donors, and international organizations.

 

Water Initiative

Other initiatives engaging Chemical Industry Partners include Climate Change, Repowering Transport, Driving Sustainable Consumption, Mainstreaming Sustainable Investing and Sustainable Manufacturing, Technology for Clean Energy.
