The industry partnership programme provides CEOs and senior executives of the world’s leading companies the opportunity to engage with their peers to define and address critical industry issues throughout the year. The programme draws upon the Forum’s unique convening power, gathering world experts to address the industry’s most critical issues. 

To help members address complex strategic issues in a continuous and actionable way as an industry community, a limited number of work streams are defined:

Global Enabling Trade Programme: A series of high-level industry-ministerial workshops focused on practical steps to boost trade, building on an annual index and report. 
"Global Trade is one of the most important tools we have to lift us out of the economic crisis. This [work] can be very helpful for governments and regulators to identify bottlenecks in the global supply chain and analyze how those can best be addressed. Of course some measures require enormous investments and take a long time before they are completed, like the improvement of infrastructure. Other initiatives like removing "red tape" and simplifying customs procedures can be accomplished relatively easily." - Scott Davis, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, UPS.

Under the Enabling Trade Programme, the Forum collaborated with the World Bank and Bain & Company to examine supply chain barriers to international trade. The results, found in the Enabling Trade: Valuing Growth Opportunities report, show that supply chain barriers are more of an impediment to trade than tariffs. Reducing supply chain barriers could increase global GDP over six times more than removing all tariffs.

This year, the community in collaboration with the Consumer Industry Community will look at the issue of food waste along the supply chain. 

Supply Chain and Transport Risk: This project will improve understanding of supply chain and transport risks and build a network of key decision-makers to serve as a more effective preparation and response mechanism. Supply Chain Decarbonization: A ground-breaking quantitative study of holistic supply chain decarbonization opportunities and the steps to capture them. CEO agreement in Davos on consignment level carbon reporting guidelines is "a practical step forward for our industry in working with customers to move towards low-carbon supply chains." - Frank Appel, Chief Executive Officer, Deutsche Post DHL. The Supply Chain Decarbonization project looked strategically at global supply chain carbon footprints and the effectiveness of reduction options. It delivered the first quantified insights into the challenge, commercially viable opportunities along the supply chain and implementation recommendations.

Consignment-Level Carbon Reporting guidelines were agreed by industry leaders as an immediate response. By providing visibility of carbon footprints the industry is able to work with customers and policy-makers towards effective and efficient supply chains.

Anti-Corruption Working Group & Pilot: A challenging best-practice workout for integrity and legal teams leading to an action-oriented pilot implementation in a national customs environment.

Logistics Emergency Teams: Emergency deployment of Logistics assets and resources in support of the United Nations logistics cluster in response to natural disasters. Recent deployments in the Philippines, Indonesia, Haiti & Myanmar. Industry leaders work together to improve the industry's global corporate citizenship. The group acts as an "Early Warning System", taking the lead on emerging issues.

The cross-industry project Connected World will look at scenarios for how travel, transport and supply chains could be more integrated in 2025. It will also explore new business models that enable and support an integrated approach. The scenarios will illustrate how the above factors will impact infrastructure, technology usage, policies and financing.
