Building on the main conclusions from the Forum’s Scenarios for the Russian Federation process, this report provides a deeper analysis of the potential of Russia’s regions to champion institutional reforms and thereby contribute to building a sustainable growth path for the country.
The Russia’s Regions: Drivers of Growth initiative explores best practice regarding business environment reforms in Russia’s regions. It highlights regional differences in ease of doing business, success factors in improving the business climate and their impact on economic growth in those regions.
The project builds on the World Economic Forum’s Scenarios for the Russian Federation, which were released at the Annual Meeting 2013 in Davos-Klosters. The scenarios highlighted Russia’s regions as possible champions of reforms, driving a gradual diversification of the economy and encouraging innovation at all levels.
The World Economic Forum has launched this regional initiative to provide a platform for discussing federal and regional economic growth. The project will explore best practice as well as obstacles to implementing reforms.
The aim is to build on the momentum created by the scenario project and promote strategic discussion among stakeholders about the most appropriate and promising reforms to be undertaken.
The Russia`s Regions: Drivers of Growth report was prepared by the Global Agenda Council on Russia.
