Building on the main conclusions from the Forum’s Scenarios for the Russian Federation process, this report provides a deeper analysis of the potential of Russia’s regions to champion institutional reforms and thereby contribute to building a sustainable growth path for the country.
Russia is at a crucial turning point. Through its Strategic Foresight practice the World Economic Forum provides a unique, neutral platform and a powerful process for engaging the public and private sector leadership of the Russian economy into a forward-looking strategic dialogue on the future “business idea” for Russia’s economy. In this context, the Scenarios for the Russian Federation project explored: What are possible scenarios for Russia’s future economic prosperity and what are the underlying social, economic, political and institutional drivers for it?
Building on the scenarios for the Russia Federation, the Russia’s Regions: Drivers of Growth initiative explores best practice regarding business environment reforms in Russia’s regions. It highlights regional differences in ease of doing business, success factors in improving the business climate and their impact on economic growth in those regions.
