The Grand Cordon is the highest Order bestowed by the Government of Japan on foreign nationals.

The award recognizes Professor Schwab’s achievements in advancing public-private cooperation globally through his leadership of the World Economic Forum.

“It is an honour to receive this award and the recognition from the Government of Japan of the World Economic Forum’s work in advancing public-private cooperation globally,” said Professor Schwab.

The Order was first awarded in 1875 and features rays radiating from a rising sun. The attachment is shaped into a paulownia and the design includes a red-and-white-sash.
