Geneva, Switzerland, 17 April 2013– NBBJ, a global design and architecture company, has been selected by the World Economic Forum to join its Community of Global Growth Companies (GGC), a group of more than 350 rapidly growing multinational companies that are reshaping the global economic landscape.
“When choosing entrants to our Community of Global Growth Companies, we assess companies on their business model, annual revenues and growth rates, executive leadership and market position,” said David Aikman, Senior Director, World Economic Forum. “NBBJ is a dynamic group with clear potential to shape the future across the many markets in which it operates and so is a perfect fit for our GGC community.”
“It is very exciting to be invited to join the World Economic Forum's Global Growth Companies,” said Scott Wyatt, Chief executive Officer of NBBJ. “We are looking forward to working with other Member companies to identify and put into practice new ways to propel global economic growth and create opportunities in the built environment, for education, healthcare and beyond.”
NBBJ has a 70-year history of innovation in architecture, working with leading companies and organizations across a variety of market sectors to create buildings that transform businesses and improve people's lives. Over the past five years, NBBJ has grown significantly, opening new studios in Shanghai and Pune, India, and significantly expanding client collaborations in Asia, Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Russia, while doubling the volume of work in key cities in the United States such as New York, Boston, Los Angeles and San Francisco.
NBBJ has consistently been at the forefront of integrating into design new technologies and methodologies – most recently Building Information Modelling (BIM), computational design, Lean, and Six Sigma—to improve human performance. The firm also leads sustainability efforts via partnerships with global construction partners and through energy conservation efforts undertaken alongside the University of Washington and other organizations. Finally, NBBJ is shaping the future of design education by partnering with top-ranked international design schools, such as Columbia University, to bridge disciplines such as public policy, health policy and architecture to address some of the world’s most pressing health and environmental issues.
NBBJ creates innovative places and experiences for organizations worldwide, and designs communities, buildings and environments that enhance people’s lives. Founded in 1943, NBBJ is an industry leader in healthcare facilities and has a strong presence in the corporate, commercial, civic, science and education and sports markets. It has won numerous awards and has been recognized as one of the “greenest” architecture firms in the United States. NBBJ has more than 600 employees in 10 offices worldwide in Beijing, Boston, London, Los Angeles, New York, Columbus, Pune, San Francisco, Seattle and Shanghai. Recent clients include Alibaba, Amazon, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Boeing, Cambridge University, Cleveland Clinic, GlaxoSmithKline, Google, Massachusetts General Hospital, Microsoft, Reebok, Salk Institute, Samsung, Stanford University, Starbucks, Telenor, Tencent and the Wellcome Trust. About the Community of Global Growth Companies
The Community of Global Growth Companies (GGC) is composed of rapidly growing emerging multinationals. It was founded in late 2007 and currently has more than 350 members globally from all sectors. The community was created to recognize the next generation of industry leaders. It supports them as they navigate new geographies, markets, cultures and regulatory systems to become a major driving force in social and economic development.
Members of the GGC Community convene every year at the Chinese-hosted Annual Meeting of the New Champions and at the World Economic Forum’s regional meetings, and collaborate through the private area of the World Economic Forum's website, an exclusive online networking platform for business and government leaders.
