Istanbul, Turkey, 5 June 2012 – The World Economic Forum is bringing together key individuals from government, business, academia and civil society to focus on issues relating to Ukraine.
The Global Agenda Council on Ukraine was launched at the World Economic Forum on the Middle East, North Africa and Eurasia in Istanbul, Turkey, on 4-6 June 2012, following a meeting between Professor Klaus Schwab, Founder and Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum and Viktor Yanukovych, President of Ukraine.
Members of the Global Agenda Council on Ukraine will work to elaborate ideas and proposals relevant to Ukraine's positioning within global, political, economic and social contexts. The Council will also be tasked with addressing such issues as Ukraine’s position in Europe, democracy, human rights and energy security.
The Council will function within the Network of Global Agenda Councils, a wider expert body with over 1,200 Members. Global Agenda Councils are convened by the Forum to develop insights and create innovative solutions to address key global, regional and industry challenges. Global Agenda Council Members monitor key trends and develop recommendations for problem-solving.
